The Long Neck Tribe

After an hour long elephant ride through the jungles of Chaing Mai, I landed upon the Long Neck Tribe village.  The women of the Long Neck Tribe come from different regions of South East Asia.  Supposedly, these women wear these heavy bands around their neck to protect them from the wild.  Originally, tigers used to prey on these women’s necks, to protect them, they started wearing this heavy jewelry.  This is what my tour guide told me, so if it is incorrect, please let me know.  A certain part of me thinks how wonderful it would be to live in a tiny village making beautiful crafts day after day.  I’m sure in reality, it is much more difficult than my fantasies.  Hope you enjoy the portraits.
